What do Gary Gait, Charles Barkley and former NY Knick Gerald Wilkins all have in common?

Watch: "Air Gait" (1988) here & here.

The original "Air Gait" incident rocked the lacrosse world, opening up new possibilities for offensive acrobatics around the crease. Gary Gait was sporting Nike basketball kicks when he "dunked" on Penn goalie John Kanaras. Basketball shoes have always been a good substitute for turf shoes in lacrosse, providing good lateral movement and ankle support as well as offering a stylish alternative to the standard turf shoe.

The Nike Air Alpha Force sneaker, was worn by Charles Barkley and New York Knickerbocker, Gerald Wilkins (as in the brother of legendary Atlanta Hawk, Dominique Wilkins of the National Basketball Association)

  • Nike Air Delta Force: The high top sneaker that the Penn defenseman that got served was wearing. Once again, a classic basketball shoe doubling as a lacrosse turf shoe.
