[NCAA] PRINTS' picks - Week 8

Week 8 of the the 2016 college lacrosse season. THE PRINTS picks 'em, we post 'em. Here's your insight into this weeks NCAA lax games ...

SYRACUSE over Duke: Starting this week off with a tough pick. This will be a good game but, Orangeman face off specialist BEN WILLIAMS should be the difference maker in this high powered game! Cuse by 4.

HOLY CROSS over Jacksonville: This is a coin flip game but I am tilting my cap towards the Crusaders only because of that 2OT game against Harvard. They showed a great deal of moxie that game and I think they have enough fire power to a Rebuilding Year JU Ship!

HARVARD over Dartmouth: Dartmouth is a much better team than their record indicates. They have a good focus and they are adjusting to the new system in North Hanover but, HARVARD is coming off a defeating and exhausting loss against Brown so, look for HARVARD to take out frustration on the Big Green.

LOYOLA over Bucknell: This is not a "big name school" pick here. Bucknell has the tools for the upset and I wouldn't be surprised to see it but, LOYOLA's ZACH SIRICO is a player who can change a game and he might be a too much for the Bison to handle. Look for a close game, LOYOLA by 3.

MARIST over Canisius: The MARIST FOXES will enjoy the hot hand of sniper JOSEPH RADIN as they punish the Canisius porous defense.

UNC over Maryland: Yes, I am calling the UNC Roller Coaster Team in a huge win over Maryland. I say that UNC STEPHEN KELLY going 80% on the draw and dominating the "x" getting the ball through CHRIS CLOUTIER to secure a nice W on the stat sheet for the TARHEELS.

PROVIDENCE over Bellarmine: I like this Friars team. They are gritty like their teams back in the 80's. They are playing good lax riding on the shoulders of BRENDAN KEARNS (Wantagh, NY) who was coached by  JOHN CUIFFO who also produced Notre Dame All American and Team USA U-19 stand out PAT WALSH.

QUINNIPIAC over Sienna: This will be a tough game to call but, I am going with the North Haven, CT squad and attackman BRIAN FELDMAN who launches a cannon! QUINNIPIAC in OT.

VERMONT over Umass-Lowell: I was a believer in UMass-Lowell until last week. They really let me down. Don't know what is going on with them but, this VERMONT team is rolling and it might get ugly on Saturday. Too many mids for the Lowell River Hawks to handle.

FURMAN over VMI: Coach Mead has been looking forward to this match up all season. It might be enough to keep his kids hungry after a long bout of Winless Blues! This game will not produce high caliber fireworks but, FURMAN's JONAH MOORE should be able to find some elbow room to fire shots against a soft VMI defense.

D2 Pick of the Week: MERRIMACK over Molloy: MERRIMACK has to cope with the loss of workhorse Tucker Schwarz. They do have a few Massachusetts boys to fill the role with his absence. He is the best player to come out of Merrimack's Men's Lacrosse since the great Scott Aiken in the late 80's! Merrimack still wins ...

D3 Pick of the Week: WNEC over Springfield: I love seeing former players coaching against their college coach. This is what we have here Coach JOHN KLEPACKI looks to upend his college coach KEITH BUGBEE. WNEC has been crushing the Hudson Valley in recruiting and they are winning the recruitment battle. That coupled with convincing Longmeadow HSplayers to come to WNEC is creating a hotbed in Springfield MA. Look for the Golden Bears to upend their cross city counterparts in this Western Mass Home Town Classic!
